The visit can be billed to your insurance and you will receive a diagnosis and treatment plan, or if needed, the physician will refer you to a specialist. Pediatric patients can also talk to an emergency medicine physician from the comfort of their home, school or wherever they are.
The addition of virtual urgent care to the App joins the launch last year of Second Opinion, Adult Online Urgent Care and Virtual Visits, as well as telepsychiatry and telestroke care. NewYork-Presbyterian is one of the only health systems to develop an integrated, enterprise-wide digital suite of services and to deploy them on a scale of this magnitude.
To enable this, the hospital has partnered with American Well to create a platform that integrates the telehealth offerings into a single mobile application. The hospital is also experimenting with a telestroke service that will connect patients who are having a stroke with a doctor in real time over the Internet. The goal is to save seven minutes of treatment, which can be “lifesaving,” he says. It will be rolled out to more hospitals in the coming months.

This eliminates the need to go to the emergency room, which can save time and money. The virtual second-opinion program is available for people in New York state and plans to expand soon to other states.
The virtual urgent care doctor who provides the second opinion has access to your medical records through MyChart, allowing them to fully assess your symptoms and make an accurate diagnosis. During the visit, your provider may order tests or recommend an appointment with an appropriate specialist. You will receive an after-visit summary through MyChart and an alert for your physician to follow up with you, if needed.

To access virtual care, you must be a MyMountSinai member and have a mobile device with a camera. If you are a current member, log in to your MyMountSinai account and click “Enter Virtual Waiting Room.” Once the virtual waiting room is full, you will be connected with an appropriate healthcare provider, first come, first served.

Virtual Urgent Care allows you to connect online with a doctor who can evaluate and treat non-emergency illnesses and injuries without needing to leave your home or go to an urgent care location. If you’re enrolled in the service, you can request an appointment via your smartphone, tablet or computer by entering a virtual waiting room where someone will help you set up your visit. The visit lasts around 15 minutes, and the doctor will discuss your symptoms and treatment options with you.
You can also use telehealth visits to talk to your Geisinger provider for medical concerns that aren’t life-threatening and that you can’t wait to see your doctor about, such as a minor injury or a cough. The visits can be scheduled through the MyChart app.
Virtual visits are an option for adult and pediatric emergency medicine patients who need real-time telehealth access to a physician for their symptoms and illnesses. The physician will assess your symptoms using a video conference call with your mobile device, and provide you with medical advice that may include prescription medication or referrals for additional care.
The telehealth visits are provided through Corewell Health and can be requested through your AHN primary care or specialty practice or through the MyChart app. The telehealth service is available 24/7 and 365 days a year. It’s convenient, quick and safe.
In addition to virtual urgent care, NYP has a number of other innovative services for its patients. For example, the Lisa Perry Emergency Center recently launched Digital Emergency and Urgent Care to address issues with overcrowding in the emergency department. The program offers NYP/Weill Cornell Lisa Perry Emergency Center patients the opportunity to speak with a clinician for initial triage and a medical screening exam via video call. Eventually, the service will also include a digital follow-up appointment.
The digital visits enable patients to avoid a trip to the emergency department and allow them to stay home to rest and recover from their illness or injury. It also reduces the amount of time that patients must spend waiting for a prescription to be written and sent to their local pharmacy. Prescriptions are electronically sent to the patient’s preferred pharmacy, and the patient can pick up the medication at their convenience.

We are proud to offer both adult and pediatric virtual urgent care services to our patients through the NYP Connect app. We have partnered with a network of experienced providers who are background-checked and trained in using nationally accepted care guidelines. This allows us to provide a more reliable diagnosis and treatment than you would get in a typical doctor’s office.
During your visit, you will see the provider on video and discuss your symptoms, signs and test results. Then the provider will create a treatment plan including prescription medication (if appropriate) and provide you with instructions to follow up with your primary care doctor. Your after-visit summary will be sent to your MyChart account and an alert will also be sent to your primary care doctor if needed.
Our pediatric virtual urgent care is available for children ages 5 and up to treat medical conditions such as ear infections, sore throats, runny noses and mild fevers. If your child has a condition that requires additional attention, the pediatrician will refer them to a specialist if necessary.
To use this service, log in to your MyChart account and select “24/7 Virtual Urgent Care.” You will be prompted to enter the virtual waiting room where someone will assist you with the check-in process and schedule you for an appointment with an available Geisinger healthcare provider. If you are not a current Geisinger patient, you can access the same services through Corewell Health, a nationwide virtual care provider with whom we have an agreement. During the appointment, you will be connected with a board-certified physician who is licensed in the state where you are located at the time of the visit. Visits are covered by most insurance plans and are Health Savings and Flexible Spending Account eligible.
